Liquid detergent is a liquid fabric detergent and the primary washing product developed as an alternative to laundry powder. It is available in standard, concentrated, and gel-form formulations. Based on water, it contains surfactants and functional additives, making it suitable for various fabrics and washing scenarios. Its key characteristics, classifications, and differences from laundry powder are as follows: I. Core General Characteristics 1. Gentle formula: Most formulations are neutral or weakly alkaline, with a pH close to that of human skin. They are gentle on delicate fabrics such as cotton, linen, synthetic fibers, silk, and wool, minimizing fiber damage and fading, making them ideal for washing undergarments and children’s clothing.

  1. Complete dissolution with no residue: Dissolves instantly upon contact with water, rapidly disperses in both cold and warm water without forming clumps or leaving white stains, eliminating concerns about residue adhering to clothing or the washing machine drum.
  2. Easy foam control: The foam volume can be adjusted according to washing requirements. Machine-washable models produce minimal foam and are easy to rinse, saving water and effort; hand-washable models deliver abundant foam for excellent scrubbing performance.
  3. Multi-functional: The basic model meets daily cleaning needs, while the advanced model incorporates additional ingredients such as antibacterial, anti-mite, color-preserving, softening, fragrance-retaining, and anti-static agents, providing comprehensive cleaning and care in one product without the need for extra softeners.
  4. User-friendly design: The liquid form facilitates precise dosage control, featuring a graduated cap that allows even novice users to add accurately; most packaging adopts a flip-top or pump head design for convenient dispensing and reduced risk of spillage.
  5. Main Categories and Application Scenarios 1. Regular laundry detergent: With an active ingredient content of ≥15%, it offers basic cleaning power and excellent cost-effectiveness, suitable for daily mild-stain laundry and general household use.
  6. Concentrated laundry detergent: With an active ingredient content of ≥30%, it delivers enhanced cleaning power. Requires only 1/2–1/3 the amount of the regular formula, features a compact package that saves space, and is effective against moderate stubborn stains, meeting high-efficiency washing requirements.
  7. Underwear-specific laundry detergent: Featuring a neutral formula with antibacterial/mite-killing ingredients specifically designed to remove blood and sweat stains. It is gentle on the skin, non-irritating, and free from fluorescent agents.
  8. Infant and toddler-specific laundry detergent: Free from fragrances, dyes, and irritants; featuring a simplified formula specifically designed for children’s clothing, ensuring safety with no residue.
  9. Color Brightening/Whitening Detergent: Contains oxygen bleaching agents to enhance the vibrancy of colored garments and whiten white clothes without damaging fabrics, ideal for cleaning yellowed or dull garments.

III. Key Considerations for Selection and Use 1. Check the active ingredient content: Higher concentrations mean stronger cleaning power; prioritize national standard formulations with ≥30% concentration for concentrated versions. 2. Select the appropriate formula based on fabric type: choose neutral formulas for delicate fabrics, weakly alkaline formulas for heavy stains, and additive-free formulas for close-fitting or children’s clothing. 3. For machine washing, opt for low-foaming formulas to reduce rinsing frequency and conserve water and electricity. 4. Store in a place protected from direct sunlight and use promptly after opening to prevent product degradation.

Laundering detergents have now become the go-to choice for household cleaning, particularly ideal for those who prioritize garment care and cleaning various fabrics. Concentrated detergents, with their “slower usage, space-saving design, and high efficiency,” have emerged as the dominant trend in recent years.
